Bower has discovered a way to meld two seemingly opposing facets of her artistic expression into one; her passion for metalworking and her creative expression using watercolors. April Bower developed patina painting after observing the variations of greens evoked by the patina she used when creating copper fountains. As a result, Patina Painting on copper was born. By painting reactive chemicals on copper, then combining metal leafing, April Bower creates wonderful free-form and expressive panels. "Arranging these rich, colorful panels in multiples adds yet another dimension," says April Bower.
